Excellent
The National Geographic Driving Guides are guides to Blue Highways, i.e., non-freeways. They are perfect for people who want to get back to the "real" America. Since they are written by different authors, they vary in quality. National Geographic's Pacific Northwest Driving Guide
This book was disappointing. Although it boasts the, as always, lovely National Geographic photographs, the information and the writing are dated. It needs to be updated, at least.

The Guide for People on the Go
This guide is well structured, the chapters on the states are color-coded and make it easy to find trips for the state you're interested in. I liked the classification with stars for locations - the reader knows at a glancewhich trip offers a lot of "must-sees" and/or interesting placesto visit. And because it is a National Geographic guide, it also featureslots of beautiful photographs.Read more

Truly Useful
Following a series of recommended drives throughout the Middle South from west to east, this compact little book provides an excellent listing of sights (including brief descriptions) that a reasonably intelligent reader might enjoy. I read it with highlighter in hand, marking the sights that appealed to me, an approach I recommend to others.Read more

Excellent
Having spent much of my life in the Pennsylvania/New York region, I was delighted to find that this book contained most of the sights that I have come to love, as well as a large number that I was not familiar with. It is a "Blue Highways" (i.e., off the Interstate) type of guide, and is fun to read. Highly recommended for anyone planning a vacation in this region. National Geographic's Driving Guides To America

Great book for a general overview of Canada
National Geographic Traveler's Canada gives a great broad look at Canada's cities and their highlights.As with any National Geographic series book, its full with rich pictures of the various sights.Included are good driving destinations for scenic tours.However, this book is definitely not the be-all and end-all of Canadian Travel.It does not give a detailed look at any of the cities, and should be really only used as a starter for more research into what you plan on doing and where.But then again, how can anyone expect a concise travel guide on such a large country in only 400 pages? ... I bought this book after enjoying the excellent Guide to Texas and the Middle South from the same series. Unfortunately, the guides are all by different authors, and vary widely in the quality of their content. I've bought four of them so far, and this one is the worst of the bunch.Read more
