The Cast
This book is a must have for fly fishers of all levels. Ed Jaworowski does a great job explaining the principals of the cast, the problems, solutions and tips to help all fly casters. I highly recommend this book.

Extremely helpful
I started fly fishing for trout in the watershed for NYC, which was pleasant and uncrowded at one time, though it is neither now. In any case, the streams were small and brushy and being an obsessive, I tried about a dozen rods before settling on what I liked to cast -- a short fiberglass rod from Scott. Then one day I decided to buy a fast action saltwater rod to fish for stripers in the Long Island sound. I quickly learned that I didn't really know how to cast that kind of rod that kind of distance, let alone into the wind. About a year later, I took an introductory class on fly fishing with my father whom I had talked into learning the sport. Ed Jaworowski was the teacher. I can say first hand that he can cast a fly line an incredible distance -- and he can teach how. His book had just come out at the time, though I didn't acquire a copy until recently. After all these years, I can say that this is an excellent book on casting the fly rod in a way that maximizes the efficiency of the rod; I strongly recommend it for anyone interested in saltwater fly fishing in particular.

Brings flycasting into the 21st Century
With the application of physics (don't let that scare you), Ed Jaworowski has debunked the "old school" method of casting a fly.Sure to be called heresy by many, this is an easily understood, practical method of learning to cast great distances with relative ease.Read more

A Great Resource for Beginners to Intermediates
A great book! Clear and easy to follow.Nevertheless, take your time to slowly digest all of the material and each time you go fishing try something new from the book.I had a fear of nymph fishing, but after reading this book I immediately began taking many more trout and larger trout than I had in the past.A fine place to learn about modern nymphing technique.

Good how-to book
This is a good, solid work that will be of interest to the beginning to intermediate fly fisherman.It's clearly written and gives good advice.The illustrations are clear and useful. If you want to give nymph fishing a try, or improve your basic skills, you won't go wrong with this book.

Can fly fishing make you a Western?

Very Nice Photos
This is a book that belongs in every advanced fly fishing/tying library.the photos of common mayflies, caddis and stoneflies are outstanding.The text is anecdotal and interesting, but could have been expanded to include hatch dates, fly sizes, more on variations (like the many body colors of psuedocloeon on teh Housatonic R.).A very nice companion to Mayflies by Fauceglia, also a recent excellent pictorial book. ... Saltwater Fly Tying---Wentink
This is a book for beginning fly tiers and having never tied a fly of any kind before this is one time where I feel VERY qualified to provide a review.I am going bonefishing and needed to tie some "Crazy Charlie" flies.I purchased 4 other books on tying flies for salt water, but this was the only one that provided detailed, step by step instructions for a BEGINNER.The others have material lists and pictures but no detailed instruction.I have only one wish, and that is that Mr. Wentink would up date a new printing with new materials and flies that have developed since 1991.

I really liked this book, let me tell you why.
Inspired Fishing Adventures
This book is a delight for anyone who has ever gone fishing, would like to, or simply enjoys good storytelling.Fish tales have often been prone to exaggeration, but these tales carry the ring of truth.The book can be enjoyed as separate and complete short stories, or savored as a whole.The authors have inspired me to pick up a fishing pole and go catch some fish.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!
Ray Bondorew's book is right on the money and contains a wealth of information in a slim readable format.His sense of the environment encountered while striper fishing is remarkable and his knowledge of waves, beaches, stripers and currents is presented in a way that conveys useful information to a fisherman.
great...and simple book
this is a very readable, informative book. Ray cuts to the chase. the only reason i gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars is because I think his fly choices are too self-serving... no clouser or deceiver type paterns(come on!) butthe flies he does have are great ones.

Ray tells all
Ray's book is my favorite on fly fishing for stripers.He keeps it simple, yet includes all the essential info that will get fish on your line.I can think of a couple of pricier hardcovers that take a lot morepages to go over the same info that Ray lays out in a much simpler and morehomespun fashion.And despite a prior reviewer's opinion on the patternsincluded, any self-respecting Northeast saltwater flyfisher knows that theRay's Fly is a classic along the New England shore.A must for any striperangler's bookshelf. ...
