Another Great Book
Our 27 month old granddaughter received this book for Christmas.It has quickly become one of her favorites.(Grandma's,too)Catchy verses,cute and colorful pictures.Not too lengthy.Perfect for naptime,bedtime or anytime.Kiersten likes the dinosaurs stuck in the elevator,especially the baby one.

Oh My Oh My Our Favorite Boynton Book
Out of the 14 Boynton books we own, this one is our favorite.My daughter adds her own commentary;Dinosaurs Happy -> Dinosaurs Sad, "he's crying".Dinosaurs Cold -> Dinosaurs Hot, "at the beach!".The book has a good rhythm (dinosaurs singing a dinosaur song), and it has pleasent, irreverent surprises (Dinosaurs crammed in an elevator, "4th floor!").Boynton's great and this book sings.Your kids will love dinosaurs after ths book.

You will read it again and again... and NOT hate it!!!
You and your baby/toddler/kid will love this book.This is a real gem with adorable illustrations and delightful rhyming text.There's even a little music!

Big Book of Dinosaurs
Great photos!Even if your child isn't interested in having this book read to them (or reading it themselves), just the pictures themselves are worth the purchase.My 3 and a half year old loves looking through it, and I'm sure she'll enjoy the info more when she's older.

A good and big read
Our almost 4 year old son likes this book well enough.He did remark (and rightfully so) that some of the dinosaurs in the book seem to be pictures of toy dinosaurs.They all look pretty good (I wonder where you could buy one of those) EXCEPT for the T-Rex!It looks really bad, of all dinosaurs to pick, this one does not shine well in this book.The text and information seems in order, but as we just now breaking into the dinosaur phase, we might read information that will tell us otherwise.Ofcouse we will post an update then :-) As for now, this is a good purchase, its a biiig book, the illustrations will give you lots to talk about.

Converted to a dinosaur lover!
We gave this book to our son in September for his third birthday!It is his absolute favorite book.He was already an avid "reader" but this book is the best.He was only interested in trains and construction vehicles before the introduction of this book.It has wonderful pictures so he can "read" on his own.There is LOTS of dinosaur detaild for us to read to him.He seems hungry to learn more about the dinosaurs and there is always more to learn in here.He recently brought it to show and tell at school as his favorite item!If you have a budding discoverer, this book is for you.It has become one of my standard gifts for little boys. ... Our son loves it!
I ordered this book based on reviews, and to be honest, I was not incredibly impressed with it.It is one of the better "opposite" (not all are exactly opposites- spiky and lumpy?) books I have seen, but the most important thing is our 13 month old son loves it!It is one of the top 5 he chooses for us to read out of his MANY books.I don't know if it's the pictures, or if he likes to hear me try to roar, but he likes it, and isn't that what really matters?

A Great Book!
I bought this book for my 2 year old and he loves it!The text (sets of opposites) is written in a fun cadence and provides ample opportunity for a lively reading!I think we'll be reading this one for a long time!

Childhood memories...
Maybe I am just going on childhood memories, but after all the Disney books (Snow White, Three Little Pigs, Pinocchio), Danny and the Dinosaur was my favorite book. I remembered it after twenty years... so it must have made an impact. The letters were big, but it wasn't simple like "See Jane run. See Dick run. See Jane and Dick run." It was a very simple book with a simple plot -- and now I have a [...] son who is in his DINOSAUR EVERYTHING phase, and I am getting it for him! (I know this review isn't helpful, but I just wanted to add to it) The cover has longed changed (it used to be a simpler off-white cover) but it's still the same cute Danny and his dinosaur.

Fun, Fun, Fun
Danny and the Dinosaur is a delightful tale of imagination and good-humored fun.Danny visits a museum where he meets a dinosaur looking for a little bit of fun after 100 million years of just hanging around.They go and have a great time playing in the city.No one is hurt or placed in danger, and everyone has a good time.
Gosh How I Used To Long For My Own Pet Dinosaur!
I used to read this sincerely great book to myself over and over as a little girl and I was sure that somehow, no matter what grown-ups said about that big old word "extinction"I would get my own pet dinosaur through the magic of what might be termed "wishcraft". One of our family favorites.
Both story and illustrations are absolutely first-rate.My children had borrowed the original edition from the library several times so when I found this edition I bought it immediately.It's been a family favorite for several years now.Buy it, and you too can go through your days humming "The Ballad of Dinosaur Bob."

Dinosaur Bob
I can't say enough good about WIlliam Joyce. He's one of my two or three favorite illustraters.His drawings are so detailed that you can almost see individual leaves in his plants and bushes. Besides, his unbelievable technical ability, he also is extremely inventive. On one page in this book, the dinosaur and his friends aren't shown except in their shadows and like in all his books, the colors seem almost too bright to be real.

When you're having fun
I wonder what the process is behind author/illustrators of picture books making their very first wordless title.Is it something they all secretly want to do but only a few dare to?Does everyone make one and then publishers get scared and refuse to publish them?Why are there only a few on the market today?Obviously when Eric Rohmann's, "Time Flies" won the Caldecott Honor it probably raised the status of wordless picture books everywhere.I'm not suggesting that it was the first book of its kind or even the best but since its publication we've enjoyed other wordless titles like fellow Honor, "The Red Book" by Barbara Lehman and "The Boy, the Bear, the Baron, and the Bard" by Gregory Rogers.Eric Rohmann would later go on to garner the full Caldecott Award for, "My Friend Rabbit", a book done in a style entirely different from that of most of his work.By and large Rohmann feels more comfortable with gentle surrealism as in, "Cinder-Eyed Cats" and "Clara and Asha", though he's not afraid to go off and make a "Pumpkinhead" for the heck of it.In "Time Flies" we are taken on a wordless trip back and forth through time with a creature that may well be visiting his own ancestors.
A LANDMARK DEBUT IN CHILDREN'S LITERATURE
Eric Rohmann has made numrous contributions to the annals of children's literature since his estimable debut "Time Flies."I think often of and return to "The Cinder-Eyed Cat" for pure enjoyment. Imaginations will flow!
I often use this beautifully illustrated book in my classroom of 3-5 year olds.As the children view the pictures they begin talking about what they see happening without any facillitation from me.This is an excellent book to use in the classroom to promote language!Everytime we read it our plot changes a little bit!This book should be in every classroom library! ... Excellent book, especially if you have kids!
A wonderful project, and a clear and well-written book.Do not expect to finish quickly -- we spent many hours over many months cleaning, sorting, cutting, and assembling a beautiful 'apatosaurus.' Kids of all ages (mine are 3 and 5) can get involved, from enthusiastically finishing their chicken dinners to cleaning and sorting and assembling the new family pet. One of the best educational tools I've ever seen:

My stepson's favorite
When picking out a book to read at night, this book seems to come up more often than any other.My six-year-old stepson and I have probably read this book over 150 times in the past 2 years, and he never gets tired of it.It's fun to read for me and he loves the holograms.I would definitely recommend this book for any child interested in dinosaurs.

Arielle (5 years old) has owned this book for two days, has had it read to her umpteen times, memorized it, and had it read to all her friends--who stopped transfixed in a kid's pool to listen. I have run out of fingers, and subsequently lost count of just how many times umpteen is. Since you'll be reading it a lot, you'll be glad to know if you are a parent, that A Night in the Dinosaur Graveyard is an adult friendly book (Sesame Street vs. Nickolodean's Blues Clues if you get my drift.) Dinosaurs and the Magic School Bus
I bought this book for my son's 5th birthday. He loves the Magic School Bus series and he loves Dinosaurs. This was the perfect gift for him. We have read it a few times already. It does not read as smooth as the other books in the series, but it keeps his interest and makes him want to read.

Not the biggest meat eater. From vincent
Acually the biggest carnivore was giganotosaurus(gig-a-no-toe-sau-rus)with runners up being carcharodontosaurus(car-car-o-don-to-sau-rus),spinosaurus (the star from Jurrasic Park III)Then Tyrannosaurus rex (t-rex).My personal favorites: Velociraptor(veh-loss-i-rap-tor, ceratosaurus (cer-at-o-sau-rus),oviraptor (o-vi-rap-tor),and ornitholestes (or-nith-o-les-tees).

Wonderful educational book for a variety of ages!
I wasn't familiar with the Magic School Bus series until I visited my family this past weekend--my 3-year old niece absolutely loved this book!Unconventional teacher Mrs. Frizzle takes her students on an archeological dig, but she then decides to give them a real look at dinosaurs by loading them onto her magic school bus and traveling back in time.The main body of the story is only about 5 lines per page, making the book appropriate for reading to younger children, but there is also a wealth of additional information included in surrounding insets, making the book ideal for an older beginning reader as well (and fun for adults, too!).The pictures are extremely detailed and colorful, and the illustrated children portray a variety of ethnic appearances.Given my niece's reaction, I'd highly recommend this book for aged 2-3 and up. ... A Bedtime Favorite
My son is a dinosaur fanatic! We checked this book out from our local library....I read it at least twice a day for the three weeks it was in our home. Needless to say, we had to track it down and purchase it.
Entirely Enchanting!!
Take off on a magical dream with a girl and her dinosaur. My daughter adores this book ... can't get enough of it. The story is magical and the illustrations are some of the best I've seen in a children's book. It is just captivating! This would make such a great birthday present, along with a little green stuffed dinosaur, just like the one the girl is holding in the book.

When I first read this story to my almost-3-yr old daughter at the library, I saw a look in her eyes I had never seen before. My 5 yr. old son bought this book with his allowance as one of the "recommendations" from Amazon.I love reading it to him as much as he loves having it read to him.He's a HUGE dinosaur fan and loves to rhyme so this book is right up his alley.We highly recommend it!!

Excellent book for babies
My 13month old boy loves this book.He wants to hear the sounds over and over.Not too wordy so it keeps his attention.It's very cute and always gets lots of smiles.Kolar needs to write more of these!

Perfect book for a toddler who loves to read!
I found this book at a half price bookstore and I was intending to use it in my kindergarten classroom when we talk about otomotpias.Needless to say, it never ended up in my classroom.I read it to my one year old ,(16 months now), one night and ever since then it has been her favorite book.When I read it, I make sure that I really get into the book.I say the words like they're meant to be said.Loud and rambuncious.She loves it!When we get to the part that says "Hee Hee", she covers her mouth and says it too.It's really cute.We've read this book so much, that she knows what pages say what.All I have to do is show her the page and she either does "Hee Hee", "Yahoo", "Bye-Bye", etc.I could go on and on about this book, but just take my word for it.It's definitly worth buying for your toddler.

Nobody does it better
Dennis Lee is a treasure. My daughter and I devoured Alligator Pie when she was a little girl, chuckling merrily over author Lee's zany humor and vivid imagery. I have subsequently given each new Lee book to the children (and even some of the adults) I know, happy to introduce this outstanding author to those who haven't yet discovered him. Want to make your children/grandchildren/neighborhood kids laugh out loud? Get them anything Dennis Lee has written. He's truly gifted, truly tapped into the mind of the child in all of us. tremendously funny

beautifully presented photos and drawings
The DK series of eyewitness books are all fabulous, but this has to be my favorite. Dinosaurs are always appealing to children and adults and this book is no disappointment. Superb studio-quality, well lit photographs give you close-up shots of teeth and bones so real, you'll feel like they're right there for you to touch and pick up. Great DINOsaur book...

My Kindergarten class will "dig" this book on dinosaurs!
Right from the cover my students will be entranced with this book. It has a combination of realistic drawings and cartoons."Amazing facts" are placed on the borders to add to the fun.Now and thenthere appear true/false cartoons for the parent and child to decide uponand then check their answers.This book also shows children comparativesizes---we humans would have reached only to ankles of an Ultrasauros.Thecolorful drawings and data are super.I also thought the last two pagesused as glossary was a good idea.This book will be great to use in myyear's beginning theme of Dinosaurs. ...
